With cut-outs from vintage Playboy and Paris Match magazines, Sammy Slabbinck composed an absurd universe with a new poetic harmony as a result. Images from magazines dating from the fifties to the 80's form the base of his collage work. The artist declares to love the paper, the naivety of the images, the bleached colors, and especially the nostalgia of these magazines. He turns banal advertising images into surreal and fascinating collages. The artist is also known for his cover design of Leonard Cohen’s You Want It Darker.
