Welcome to Palazzo Litta 2018

From April 17, 2018 until April 24, 2018
Orchestrated by DAMNº and Mosca Partners.
For the 2018 edition, with The Litta Variations, we are again inviting a selection of exquisite designers, companies and brands to flaunt their best wares at Palazzo Litta throughout the duration of the Milan Design Week. Last year, over 50,000 visitors explored the various exhibitions, parties, and talks held here.
The Litta Pavilion is our Palazzo centrepiece. For the fourth time it materialises as an open venue situated in the courtyard, acting as a crossroads where people meet & greet, enjoy the time to sit together & share a few thoughts, and have a drink while recharging their devices. In addition, the pavilion also accommodates afternoon talks & interviews, evening soirées, cocktails and receptions.
We are excited to announce that this year’s courtyard installation Tempietto nel Bosco is designed by Asif Khan’s London-based practice:
‘This wooden pavilion is imagined as something between a forest and an open-air cathedral. Being ordered by Palazzo Litta’s Renaissance grid plan, its matrix of interconnected rooms and corridors culminate in a central clearing for talks and events.’ ‘The intimate surrounding rooms are intended as a place to relax and converse during the busy days of Fuorisalone. A soft surface underfoot offers a texture of contrast to the many miles of pavement that visitors will have traversed.’
Asif Khan founded his architecture practice in 2007. It is dedicated to pushing the discipline in new directions. The studio works internationally on projects ranging from cultural buildings to houses, landscapes, exhibitions and installations. Current projects include the forthcoming new Museum of London at West Smithfield, and various works at Expo 2020 Dubai. Notable past projects are the MegaFaces pavilion at the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014, and together with Pernilla Ohrstedt, the Coca-Cola Beatbox at London 2012 Olympics. In 2015, Khan’s work was shortlisted from over 1700 designs in the international competition for the new Guggenheim Museum in Helsinki. In 2016 he was commissioned by the Serpentine Gallery to design its Summer House as part of the pavilion programme, which was exhibited in Kensington Gardens. Khan is the recipient of numerous international awards including a Red Dot award for design, the Cannes Lion Innovation Grand Prix, and a D&AD award. Khan lectures across the globe on his work, and in 2015 joined the board of trustees of London’s Design Museum.
THE LITTA VARIATIONS / 4 th movement is taking place at Palazzo Litta, Corso Magenta 24, Milan, 17-22 April. Come and see this latest edition – you will be happy you did!
