Manufactured Landscapes by gt2P

Chilean collective gt2P showcases a range of molten furniture at New York's Friedman Benda gallery

From May 3, 2018 until June 9, 2018
Manufactured Landscapes is gt2P's first solo gallery exhibition, and brings together four years-worth of their research that has seen the collective create furniture pieces from remolten lava.
At Friedman Benda, they will present pieces from their Remolten range, alongside a collection named Imaginary Geographies – informed by the topography of the Andes mountain range. The coffee table and credenza in this collection feature maps of the Andes recreated in their carved wooden surfaces.
With the Suple series, gt2P alludes to Chilean builders' slang for an element that brings together disparate components into a functional structure. Sculptural wooden freestanding multifunctional works, at first glance a table and shelf, transform according to one’s interactions allowing for intimate encounters.
Finally, the collective re-envision their native tree trunks and branches a hanging light fixture – their largest work to date.
Manufactured Landscapes takes place from 3 May to 6 June 2018 at Friedman Benda gallery in New York.
