Baumkuchen (German Tree Cake), American roadside sculptures and eventually a blown-up pineapple all feature in the story of S.O.P's recent bangle jangle. Co mmissioned for FoodMarketo, a joint venture by Apartmento Magazine and DesignMarketo that was presented during this year's Milan Design Week, the bangle designs of Baum and Ananas are not reserved for statement wrists. Baum is a stack of bangles made out of layering coloured resin onto a rotating spit, while Ananas is the result of two bangles with hand crafted, oversized knurling tool patterns responsible for the third and subsequent bangle pattern. The designers describe the works as respectively 'an ongoing experiment in defining the function of an object with a void' and 'a project that concerns the relationship between a tool of production and the resulting object.'

S.O.P is a design practice for accessories and other portable objects founded by Bernadette Deddens and Tetsuo Mukai in London last year.
