Art directors at Tubes
Origami, designed by Alberto Meda for Tubes, received several major acknowledgements in 2016, namely the Salone del Mobile Milano Award for Best Product/bathroom sector, the Archiproducts Design Award for Best of Category, and the Good Design Award. This year, it won the Design Plus Powered by ISH prize. “We consider Alberto Meda a genius; he’s an inventor, a person who has never only worked on the style, the shapes, and the design”, comment Tubes art directors Roberto and Ludovica Palomba. “He is an engineer of ideas and aesthetics, in the most beautiful sense. We absolutely wanted him to be present in the Elements collection for this precise reason. Tubes is, for us, a great example of innovation, as the pieces are developed and conceived by inventors. Origami is the result of all this, a great engineering invention that becomes beauty.” The sophisticated electronic system used in Origami is operated using touch controls to switch the radiator on and off and to adjust the temperature, with three different degrees of intensity available, therefore remodulating energy consumption and allowing users to select the most appropriate settings for their particular needs.
