The new office collection by OEO Studio for HBF
‘Workplace design is shifting focus to better quality and more durable pieces.'
Copenhagen-based design practice OEO Studio, established in 2003, has designed a new office collection for American furniture brand HBF. The new office collection combines Danish minimalism with American craftsmanship, culminating in a unified, contemporary and timeless look. Commenting on the design, Thomas Lykke, founder and creative director of OEO Studio said, ‘Workplace design is shifting focus to better quality and more durable pieces. This is what we believe in and what we design for: furniture that ages beautifully and withstands the test of time. The Essens Stool and the Simple Writing Desk were designed with this mantra at their core.’
HBF and OEO Studio’s dedication to using natural, high quality materials shines throughout all three of the furniture pieces, using solid wood, metal, leather and textile, which all age with grace. OEO Studio designed the desk to last for generations - not only because of its durability, but also its everlasting design that evades the typical lifespan of trendiness.
Thomas Lykke and Anne-Marie Buemann are strong believers in “reason for being”. They share an ardent drive and passion for creating products and experiences that harbour an inner sense of necessity and offer enduring quality. They also share a passion for craftsmanship, tactile natural materials and a lived-in sensibility when creating meaningful products and universes. Their profound understanding of the personality of a brand, their human approach and their insatiable curiosity has taken them far – from creating the interiors of Michelin-starred restaurants to aspirational objects that have earned their place in the permanent collections of the V&A. They have designed award-winning showrooms and curated internationally acclaimed design brands. And they have been a directional force in the revitalisation of the traditional crafts scene of Kyoto. Sharing their passion, philosophy and mission is a multi-disciplinary in-house team of international talents.
DAMN°65 Work presents products that are creating waves in the working field. Says Productivity editor Patrizia Coggiola about the Bespoke and Inclusive trend:
"The office goes simple. Visual comfort that is perfect to complement today’s new mantra, the need for a versatile, warm, inclusive piece of furniture conveying emotional and inspiring spaces. We want to feel the atmosphere, sporting here a touch of solid wood, there a honest, clean aesthetic. All over the place, durable pieces that withstand the test of time."
