Art in Rio
Birth of a new museum.
Inaugurated at the beginning of March with four exhibitions, the new Museum of Art of Rio (MAR) by Bernardes Jacobsen Arquitetos integrates two existing buildings that face Mauá Square, next to the port of Rio. “The most striking feature of the project is the undulating concrete canopy that covers part of the roof, and houses a public terrace. This relevant but simple element generates the link between both existing buildings, not only physical but as a new entity", photographer Leonardo Finotti says.
