Exhibition, CCA, Montreal, Quebec, until 13 September
The Ábalos & Herreros archive was donated to the CCA in 2012 by architects Iñaki Ábalos and Juan Herreros. Comprised of over 250 projects dating from 1985 to 2008, it primarily comprises of sketches, drawings – in printed and digital form, collages, related textual documents, slides, and models. As always, an architectural archive is a fundamental repository of an architect’s ideas, a crucial instrument for revealing their way of thinking and their design process. In the case of Ábalos & Herreros, specifically, the archive holdings vividly illustrate their professional work – built projects as well as unrealised ideas for competitions – along with their research, writing, curating, and teaching material.
