AMZ – TyPost
Exhibition, Typopassage, quartier21, Vienna, Austria, until 28 February 2014.
Often the company archives of well-known brands contain typographic treasures. Formerly seductive invitations for purchasing things, these letterings and historic testimonials, with their retro charm, are enchanting. That of the old Alpenmilchzentrale (Alpine Milk Centre) in Vienna is a good example. A dairy factory until the 1980s, this urban manufacturer produced a huge variety of milk products – today their packaging still convinces, due to its distinctive and sometimes ironic lettering. A selection of these typographic findings have been hereby republished as postcards. A vending machine offers a set of pre-stamped cards, and an on-site mailbox encourages the visitor to directly post these humorous typographies.
