Architecture Prototypes and Experiments
Models by the likes of Adjaye Associates, dRMM, HASA and Mary Duggan Architects go on show at London's Aram Gallery
For the 10th edition of Prototypes and Experiments – London's Aram Gallery focuses in on architecture, tasking a range of practices with sharing their physical models as a way of offering a glimpse into their design process.
Through the exhibition, the gallery wants visitors to see that models aren't only a useful tool for presentation, but they can truly help when it comes to evoking the feel of a space or making structural decisions.
'The models on display will be a mix of massing studies, construction models and façade studies at a range of scales. The exhibition will also include other physical artefacts from the design process: colour tests, material palettes, 1:1 mock ups, and prototype elements' - Aram Gallery
In tune with the gallery’s interest in how designers think, plan and communicate three- dimensionally, each exhibitor will present the process of single project. An accompanying commentary will explain the purpose of each exercise, its meaning to the final work, and how it assisted the designer with making decisions along the way.
Participants include 31/44, Adjaye Associates, alma-nac, dRMM, David Kohn Architects, East, estudio b, Feilden Fowles, HASA, IF_DO, Mary Duggan Architects, Neri & Hu, Office S&M, Piercy & Company, PUP Architects, Roz Barr Architects, Rural Office for Architecture, Studio Weave, Tonkin Liu, and vPPR.
