Bellisima. Italy and High Fashion 1945-1968.

Two Valentino models at Archivio Centrale di Stato in Rome, 1958, picture by Federico Garolla.

Exhibition, Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo (MAXXI), Rome, Italy until 3 May 2015.
Over 20 years of fashion are presented in this exhibition, as it recreates the atmosphere and the styles of a period that made an extraordinary contribution to the definition of the Italian identity on an international scale. In celebration of a wonderful season of pure Italian creativity – from Sorelle Fontana to Fendi, from Schubert, Germana Marucelli, Mila Schön to Sarli and Simonetta, from Capucci to Gattinoni, Valentino and Galitzine, is a reconstruction of a galaxy in which the diverse protagonists take form through iconic clothes, images, and films. This dialogue with contemporary art is enhanced by VB74, a performance by Vanessa Beecroft designed specifically for this event.
