CHAIRS FOR SKYGAZING, Andreu Carulla
Illacions Design Gallery
‘Chairs for Skygazing’ is a series of twelve conventional chairs rethought and reinterpreted by
Andreu Carulla as an invitation to see the world from a different point of view.
“After a year of unprecedented obstacles and difficulties, from our studio, we wanted to offer a new perspective on life. By looking up instead of down, reaching for the sky and turning everything on its head by reassessing the future. Bring on 2021”
The idea took form after friend Xavi Roca from design studio Run asked the author to help him to create a gift with a positive message. The brief was to produce an original object to shoot and print in a vertical calendar. The concept “to put one’s chin up” to heal oneself and come out of a difficult situation arised, rethinking the format of a basic piece of furniture like a chair, present in every single home, to literally put one’s chin up.
“You can also sit down in a conventional way but when you see the chairs they invite you to gaze at the sky”. The project has been materialised in a calendar format with pictures by Sílvia Poch and with this unique chairs exhibition at the Illacions Design Gallery.
