Copenhagen ULTRACONTEMPORARY Biennale
Biennale, Multiple venues, Copenhagen, Denmark.
Copenhagen ULTRACONTEMPORARY Biennale or CUB focuses on ‘emergency’ art and artists who are burning to express themselves.
An artistic response to the necessity to express the dysfunctions of society, CUB is one-part biennale and one-part campaign. During the two-week biennale, ultracontemporary artworks are produced and exhibited the very same day, which means the exhibition is in daily transformation and renewal.
Over the past 25 years, many of the once-ultracontemporary artworks have become part of The Delay Museum collection and been shown in museums and institutions including MOMA/PS1 in New York, European Culture Congress in Wroclaw, Vietnam University of Fine Art, Galerie Taiss in Paris, theMuseum of African Design in Johannesburg, Palazzo delle Arti in Napoli and Ileana Tounta Gallery in Athens.
Since emergencies cannot only be expressed every second year, the biennale has since 2015 also organised streaming ultracontemporary actions in different parts of the world.
