Erwin Wurm: O Corpo é a Casa
Exhibition, CCBB, São Paulo, Brazil.
In his work, Erwin Wurm transforms familiar objects like houses, clothes, and food into an unexpected, funny, and simultaneously critical context in relation to contemporary society. Here, he presents a series that discusses the human body not only through its physicality but also through its psychological and spiritual layers. Wurm sees the house as part of the body: as a kind of skin that protects us, like a car or clothing. These elements become animated with organic life – an obese villa, a thin toilet, a sausage full of personality, an overweight car. The transformed objects speak for themselves, but essentially they speak about each one of us.
