Free Wheel. Cyclepedia: Iconic Bicycle Design.

Exhibition, Design Museum Holon, Israel Until 22 March 2014.
In terms of shape and structure, bicycles are offshoots of the human body, enabling optimal human-powered propulsion, and their structure and operation have changed relatively little in the past 200 years. Examining models from different periods in relation to time, content, technology, and design, it is possible to trace developments in technology, society, and fashion. The distinctiveness of the bicycle as a minimum-maximum object enables us to observe the vast variety of design details both comparatively and in a wide variety of cross-sections. The exhibition occupies all the museum's exhibition spaces and courtyard, and extends to the Mediatheque courtyard, with the Design Lab presenting the future of bicycles.
