Exhibition, DCA, Dundee, Scotland, UK.
The fascinating interplay between concrete forms and nature can be discovered in this exhibition of art and architecture, part of the yearlong, Scotlandwide Festival of Architecture. Featuring contemporary and archive photography, scale models and sculptures, Grey Gardens explores how architects and artists have tried to harmonise the use of concrete with natural landscapes from the 1950s to the present day. A line is traced from Scottish modernist buildings to the work of Italian architect Carlo Scarpa and the fantastical Mexican concrete garden, Las Pozas. Scottish town art is also presented. These unique environments are revealed through photography and video works, arranged alongside significant artworks.
