Ineke Hans & Erik Mattijssen

Erik Mattijssen - Fanfare - 2016 - 50 x 40cm
From June 21, 2020 until September 13, 2020
Museum Het Valkhof reopens its doors on 21 June with three exhibitions, including the feel-good Yellow as a Lemon, Red as a Tomato. It is the second in the series Flying Dutchmen: Gelderland’s Top Talents, which turns the spotlight on to two artists as a balancing duality. In 2019 the initiative focused on the link between young and old; in 2020 it addresses the interweaving of art and design. In this colourful exhibition, the museum challenges the Gelderland-born furniture and product designer Ineke Hans (1966) and the artist Erik Mattijssen (1957) to come up with something special: to put together an exhibition in which they visibly react to one another’s work. The surprising and tantalizing result created by these two well-matched celebrities runs from 21 June to 13 September in Museum Het Valkhof in Nijmegen.
