Inside Outside Architecture Museum of Contemporary Art

Ola Kolehmainen, Geometric Light, 2012.

Exhibition, Museum of Contemporary Art Nasjonalmuseet Oslo, Norway, until 26 January 2014.
Architecture has been an influential iconographic and conceptual source for contemporary art over several decades, and many artists today are working at the crossroads between visual arts and architecture. This exhibition investigates the strategies artists employ when relating to architecture, which can range from examining construction processes and analysing architectural structures, to mapping spaces. The eight artists included here allude to and deconstruct modernist architectural icons, reference vernacular architecture, and address the fragility of nomadic dwellings. Featured are newly commissioned large-scale installations, wall works, photographs, paintings, slide projections, collages and artist books.
