Kay Walkowiak - Forms in Time
Exhibition, MAK, Vienna, Austria.
Here, Kay Walkowiak focuses on fragments of a subjective phenomenology of (ideal) form. Following several scholarship residencies in Japan, India, and China, he has developed a special interest in the language of form and culture, and has been working continuously since 2013 on a series of works concerning Le Corbusier’s planned city of Chandigarh, which demonstrates the limits of ‘timeless modernity’ as a prototypical, failed urban utopia. Walkowiak explores the question of timelessness on the basis of the bipolar culturalhistorical mentalities of the East and West in an eclectic composition of new film and sculptural works.
