Lenka Clayton: Object Temporarily Removed

Exhibition, FWM, Philadelphia, US.

Until July 9, 2017
Lenka Clayton’s interdisciplinary work considers, exaggerates, and alters the accepted rules of everyday life, extending the familiar into the realms of the poetic and absurd. A selection of the artist’s recent work – including sculpture, video, typewriter drawings – are on show.
For her residency at FWM, she is looking to iconic, historical works of art as the starting point for a new artistic inquiry. Intrigued by a Brancusi sculpture, she developed two new works in response and is also inviting members of the community to create their own versions, in addition to asking international art professionals to individually respond to the unanswered questions it has generated, from their own point of view.
