L'image volée

Exhibition, Nord gallery, Fondazione Prada, Milan, Italy.

From March 17, 2016 until August 28, 2016

Curated by Thomas Demand, this group exhibition revolves around the idea that we all stand on someone else’s shoulders, and explores how artists have always referred to existing imagery in making new works. Questioning the boundaries between originality, conceptual inventiveness, and the culture of the copy, the project focuses on theft, authorship, annexation, and the creative potential of such pursuits. Situated within a special architecture exhibition by sculptor Manfred Pernice, the show features 80 works realised by some 45 artists between 1820 and the present day, including commissions by John Baldessari, Oliver Laric, Sarah Cwynar, and others.
