Michelangelo Antonioni

Michelangelo Antonioni: Blow Up, 1966, Fondazione Ferrara Arte & Gallerie d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea-Museo Michelangelo Antonioni.

Exhibition in Bozar, Brussels, Belgium.
Antonioni is regarded as one of the pioneers of modern cinema and as one of the greats of Italian film, alongside Fellini and Visconti. His fascinating visual idiom was strongly influenced by the visual arts (he was also a writer and painter) and is characterized by tightly controlled and clearly thought-out composition. The
exhibition sketches a portrait of this multifaceted and intriguing filmmaker via film excerpts, photographs, documents, original screenplays, correspondence with colleagues and friends, and paintings, both by the director himself and by other artists, offering a fascinating journey through Antonioni's modernist visual idiom and an in-depth look at his equally modernist lifestyle.
