Exhibition, MOCA, Los Angeles, 31 March – 28 July.
Widely regarded as one of the most influential artists of our time, Mike Kelley created a protean body of deeply innovative work that mined American popular culture, modernism and alternative traditions alike, for purposes of a relentless, dark, and delirious examination of self and society. This extensive overview brings together over 200 works from the mid-1970s to 2012, the year of his death. Kelley had a deep and lasting connection to Los Angeles and to MOCA.
