Moholy-Nagy: Future Present
Exhibition, LACMA, Los Angeles, USA.
Examined here is the career of a pioneering painter, photographer, sculptor, filmmaker, graphic designer, exhibition and stage designer, and prolific writer, who was also an influential teacher at the Bauhaus and later founded Chicago’s Institute of Design.
The exhibition includes more than 250 works in all mediums, as well as a large-scale construction of an exhibition space originally conceived by Moholy-Nagy in 1930. Though never realised during his lifetime, it illustrates the artist’s belief in the power of images and the various means by which to disseminate them – a highly relevant paradigm in today’s constantly shifting and evolving technological world.
