MyeongBeom Kim: Amphibology
Exhibition, Galerie Paris-Beijing, Paris, France.
This series of new works issues from a succession of mental connections and distorted memories related to the artist’s experience of his surroundings, bringing a psychological perspective to the perception of the most common artefacts. In MyeongBeom Kim's poetry of the absurd, the rules of common sense no longer have a place. Is this an attempt to escape normality or a will to see the objects and their connections differently? The residual memory of their initial function slowly fades out, acknowledging a new meaning. Kim’s aesthetic is rooted in ambivalence: the unexpected association of natural and artificial elements inevitably leads the viewer into a metaphorical dimension.
