Nomad X Phillips

Set of 3 unique ceramic pieces from 1930s Surrealism by Architect Manuel Parra
From September 28, 2020 until October 11, 2020

NOMAD partners with Phillips auction house to present a virtual destination for private sales of art and design, with a selection inspired by Palais Bulles, a masterpiece of organic architecture in Théoule-Sur-Mer, near Cannes. In response to the special circumstances this year NOMAD and Phillips have collaborated to create a digital experience on, where, as well as the 50 selected works submitted by galleries worldwide, visitors can find editorial content, digital tours, and interviews to create an experience that mirrors NOMAD’s intimate format, making visitors travel virtually and be inspired by the spirit of the destination and its architecture.

Set against the beautiful backdrop of Palais Bulles and its surroundings, participating galleries present a single object, specifically chosen to mirror and unfold in communication with this architectural extravagance. Built in the organic style of Hungarian architect Antti Lovag using circles and spheres rather than orthogonal lines, the house overlooking the Mediterranean Sea is in constant relationship with the elements. Now owned by design icon Pierre Cardin, the natural and the man-made meet in a spectacular vision.

The first online edition of NOMAD features select works from galleries such as Gallery FUMI, Amman Gallery, Thomsen Gallery, Patrick Seguin, Friedman Benda and Yves Macaux. Part of the proceeds of private sales made throughout this collaboration will be donated to The Design Museum in order to sustain one of the world’s most integral design institutions. NOMAD’s virtual destination is live on from 28 September to 11 October 2020.
