A multi-sensory evocation of craft and its roots.
Since 2010 they ‘ve toured the British Isles meeting and documenting both the makers of traditional craft, and the innovators using skills honed over centuries in a contemporary way. The result is The New Craftsmen: a collection of craft products that highlight the makers, materials and skills of the British Isles.
From 24th May for 4 months, The New Craftsmen will be transforming a back-street garage in London’s Mayfair into a multi-sensory evocation of craft and its roots, where guests can buy, commission and experience new pieces created by a growing stable of British makers, all of whom share a distinct but different passion for the forms of the forest.
The New Craftsmen represents a vision of sustainable, real luxury, expressed through dedication to materials, method and design working together in harmony. The space of The New Craftsmen Garage is designed to engage visitors with the physical world and its elements; an enchanting setting in which to learn and interact with material, makers and skill.
