Urban Arts Ruhr
Gelsenkirchen, Germany 2012 - 2014
In 2013 Urban Arts Ruhr starts off with the recently established Urbane Künste Ruhr Salon, a series of talks in a former department store in the centre of Gelsenkirchen. Vacant for several years, the venue has been outfitted by the Oberhausen-based artists' collective kitev using the leftover stage designed for the Ruhrtriennale international festival of the arts. The salon forms a hub for Urban Arts Ruhr as it delivers insights not only into its mode of operation, but also enhances a dialogue between local and international artists, urbanists, and scholars. The salon musters together project partners, artists, journalists, and residents to create an informal setting for exchanging ideas, encouraging new projects, and socialising.
