Vico Magistretti, Architetto Milanese
Fondazione La Triennale di Milano
Fondazione studio museo Vico Magistretti was set up in 2010 by the will of Vico’s family. Artemide, Cassina, De Padova, Flou, Oluce, Schiffini and Triennale Milano joined as founding members.
On the occasion of the centenary of Magistretti's birth, in 2020, Fondazione Magistretti archivio.vicomagistretti.it, as the result of work
The web portal can be defined as the first monograph, in Italian and English, on Magistretti's work. It contains over 400 historical-critical profiles of projects, the complete list of works and over 30,000 digital objects including technical drawings, sketches, project reports, magazine and newspaper clippings, patents and notes.
Starting from 18 May 2021, Fondazione will host the Magistretti Revisited exhibition. As in a game of nested Chinese boxes, the show narrates Vico’s work as an architect and designer, his Milanese studio and his bond with the city. The archive, the studio and Milan are illustrated through interviews, notes, drawings and objects of Magistretti, in an installation that is an attempt at synthesis between philological reconstruction and reinterpretation of the original atmosphere of the place where Vico and Franco Montella spent their days, thanks to the recovery of the original furnishings of the studio.
Along this path of recollection, visitors are accompanied by Magistretti’s words (taken from interviews, notes, project descriptions) presented as enlargements of the pages on which he worked, as if the exhibit itself were a large, immersive notebook. In compliance with the anti-Covid provisions, the inauguration will be online: a video will guide visitors through the stories of the exhibition.
The exhibition will be open to the public by reservation only and with online guided tours for larger groups.
To access the exhibitions during the weekend it is mandatory to buy the ticket the day before the visit.
