CONTEMPORARY MEMORIES

Nilufar

March 2021
Nilufar wishes to retrace the collaborations with contemporary designers who, over the years, have contributed to make the collection of contemporary pieces unique.
Tommaso Bertocco was introduced to interior design in 2015 when he was given the opportunity to work for Nilufar Gallery. During his time there, he developed a great interest in the gallery’s numerous vintage pieces, which led to the design of his own furniture line. Between 2015 and 2019, he collaborated with Nicolini under the name Nicolini Bertocco. By 2019 following various developments, ‘Tommaso Bertocco’ was launched, together with Eirini Ilia.
Eirini Ilia received a Bachelor's in Architecture from the University of Sheffield followed by a year in practice in well known architectural firms in Cyprus. She then completed her Master's Degree at Politecnico di Milano. Eirini has always had a keen interest in the design field, which led to her joining Tommaso in 2019 for the development of the latest and upcoming pieces.

Saguara is a floor lamp inspired by ‘saguaro’, the tree-like cactus we come across in Western Movies. Similar to its natural counterpart, Saguara is composed of a series of three U-shaped brass curves, where each one is fitted with LED strips on both sides thus becoming the light source. Each curve has a unique shape and inclination allowing an ever-changing perspective depending on the point of view.
