Iwatemo Project by Monolabon
Monolabon deals with overseas operations in relation to the production of Iwate craft work. The pieces in the iwatemo project are the result of a close collaboration of local craftsmen with the Finnish designers Ville Kokkonen and Harri Koskinen. They visited craftsmen in Iwate and have expressed, in their designs, the inspirations that they felt from their impressions.
The history and landscape of the Iwate prefecture provided a unique context of reference for the development of the three selected material product ranges: Tetubin Ironware, wooden carpentry and hand-made porcelain. The iwatemo products result from the timelessness and authenticity of Iwate manufacturing techniques in combination with a Finnish perspective towards design.
