The Incomplete City Strikes Back

Saskia Sassen is a social scientist. In her analysis of what comprises a city, she differentiates between a real city, which is complex and incomplete, and one that is effectively an Office Park, closed and elementary. She refers to the high-speed development of cities in Asia as being high-tech or intelligent, with their complex technologies usually rendering them closed cities, with the firms that sold them their big tech systems running them - an evolution that does not please her.
